PIG/LIBERTY/PINK FLOYD/V&A

How is Pink Floyd relevant today?

Representing the ruling classes, the ‘pig’ is arguably more relevant today than ever before. Originally referred to by Pink Floyd in their 1977 album ‘Animals’, it is direct reference to Animal Farm by George Orwell and was seen by most of us in the now iconic image flying over Battersea Power Station. Our pig is a modern shiny take on the original. Despite shifting and morphing, look beyond the superficial surface and you’ll see the pig is still a pig. Nothing has changed in today’s society.

‘Big man, pig man, ha ha, charade you are’
